A Closer Look at the Consultation Process
Here’s how we’ll work together, from booking to follow-up, so you know what to expect at each step.
-
Upon booking, you’ll receive access to our HIPAA-compliant client portal, Practice Better. You’ll complete your intake forms within the portal and may upload recent labs or other relevant documents.
Forms can be completed at your own pace, from the comfort of your preferred environment, with care taken to respect your energy, attention, and nervous system.
-
During your initial consultation, we’ll spend 90–120 minutes exploring your main concerns, health history, and current stress patterns. Together, we’ll look for themes and patterns across your wellness timeline, with particular attention to midlife changes.
As part of the session, Genessa may conduct a physical assessment of the tongue, face, hair, and nails. With consent, optional intuitive methods—such as chakra assessment—may also be used to explore areas of stress-related or energetic imbalance, allowing nervous system patterns and lived experience to be included in your care.
By the end of the session, we’ll collaboratively identify one to two primary wellness goals, with a focus on stress resilience, nervous system regulation, and support through perimenopause and menopause.
-
Within 5–7 days of your initial consultation, you’ll receive a summary of your session and a customized wellness plan via the patient portal.
Plans often include education around lifestyle, stress support, nutrition, herbs, and supplements, along with relevant handouts and guides.
-
A 30-minute follow-up session is included and is typically scheduled about four weeks after your initial consultation. This session provides space to review progress, ask questions, and make thoughtful adjustments to your plan.
Additional follow-up appointments (45 minutes) can be scheduled every 3–6 weeks as needed. Many clients choose to work together for several months, allowing time for gradual, sustainable support and refinement as goals evolve.

Genessa’s practice is primarily rooted in Western herbalism. At the same time, she acknowledges that much of the plant knowledge used in contemporary herbal practice originates with Indigenous peoples and communities of color, whose contributions have often been erased, misattributed, or extracted through colonial and racist systems.
Genessa strives to practice with respect and transparency, acknowledge cultural histories when possible, and avoid claiming authority over traditions that are not her own. This is an ongoing process of learning and accountability.
